One of our clients was so happy with the outcome of their usage of our Dynamic Category Products extension, they decided to write a not so small review. It was too big to fit into the review aea, so I decided to make it a blog entry.

Would it not be nice to display products to a given category, if said products belong to a given list of categories?

From version 4.26.0, of our Dynamic Catgeory Products, you can do just that!

Recently, the Google Product Feed for one of my clients simply stopped working (sporadically)

Investigation revealed timeout issues happening during the feed, even though the feed was allowed to run for hours, via settings and code. The problem seemed to occur more often than not, making for poor service on updating their Google Merchant Centre products.

Dynamic Category Products to the rescue! 

A recent update to the Dynamic Category Products Extension allows you to mass-update all/any product attributes, after a product was placed in the category.

This feature will help / allow you to get you imported products attributes better set, with more relevant data.

It is now possible to copy rules between categories.

You can either select a source category, or cut and paste rules form one to the other (or even from one server to another)

A recent feature request, for Dynamic Catgeory Products, was to add the ability for textual matches on dates.
The magento store had product attributes, which were text fields, populated with dates in the format of YYYYDDMM

They wanted to dynamically display product, using the textual fields, matching teh dates, taking it from the current date PLUS X days 

This was solved by a new DYNAMIC VARIABLE, using PHP's date functionality 

It is now possible to use dynamic variables in rules as values.

From version 4.1.0 of the Dynamic Categories Module, it is possible to build rules in progresseive steps of results. 

You can insert a new SUB RESULT combiner, which will use the result from the preceding rule sets to limit the results of the linked rule set.

Using SUB RESULTS, you can build a category by combining the results of multiple rule sets, progressively to one result. 

Sounds confusing? It is really very simple, and an example will explain it best.
